Appalachian Ski Mountain
The Appalachian Ski Mountain, conveniently located between Boone and Blowing Rock, is located at an elevation of 4,000 feet. With a vertical drop of 365 feet, the mountain includes ten ski slopes, ranging from easy to difficult in skill, with five lifts, an outdoor skating rink, and a newly added terrain park for snowboarders. Both day and night skiing and snowboarding are offered, as well as student discount days. Ski and snowboard rentals are available on site. French-Swiss ski instructors are on premises and offer lessons of all skill levels. The lodge has a slope-view restaurant, three dining rooms, fireplace, TV room, over 700 lockers, game room, nursery, dressing rooms, ATM and more! The mountain has an annual snowfall of about 50 inches, and also equips a snowmaker to ensure usable slopes.

Ski Beech
In the Town of Beech Mountain, it is the highest ski resort in Eastern North America, at an elevation of 5506 ft. Skiers and Snowboarders alike are welcome, as the mountain offers 15 slopes, 10 lifts and a freestyle terrain park and an 830 foot vertical drop. An outdoor skating rink located at the center of their Beech Tree Village for those non-skiers. Beech Mountain offers a wide variety of discounts and special rates, including a Two for One Monday and Military discounts. They ensure snowmaking and grooming for all slopes, with a live web-cam to offer real time conditions of the mountain, and offer both day and night skiing. Learning Centers include a Snow Sports Learning Center and Youth Learning Center, as well as the on site Ski Beech Professional Ski Instructors of America. Amenities include shopping, eateries and entertainment, all in a quaint alpine village setting. A variety of lodging options are available on and near the mountain.

Sugar Mountain
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is located in the Village of Sugar Mountain, right off of Hwy 184. The largest ski mountain in the area, Sugar Mountain is home to 20 slopes in a variety of skill levels, is served by 8 lifts, and has a snowboarding only terrain park (complete with a lift of it’s own), with a vertical drop of 1,200 feet (the highest in the area). For those non-skiers, tubing and snowshoeing is also available. Located at an elevation of 5,300 feet, natural snowfall of close to 80 inches and 100% snowmaking keep the area well groomed. Both day and night skiing is offered. Accommodations are located nearby in a variety of styles and locations. The lodge at the base of the mountain offers ski and snowboard rentals, cafeterias, lounge, sports shop, locker room and gift shop.

Hawksnest
Hawksnest Ski Resort is located just off of Highway 105 South between Boone and Banner Elk, North Carolina. With an elevation of 4,800 feet, the mountain receives an annual snowfall of 72 inches, with 100% snowmaking for maintaining slopes. The mountains 12 trails are served by three lifts, bringing skiers and snowboarders to a range of skill level runs at a 620-foot vertical drop. Hawksnest houses the largest snow tubing park in the area, with 8 eight lanes, each 1,000 feet long. Group and private ski lessons are available at the resort for all types of skill levels. Group rates and discounts are offered, as well as special seasonal events. Hawksnest spent the 2007 summer expanding and renovating it’s resort to be better than ever for the up coming snow season.
